05.12.16Video for 'Scarlets of the Sand' Featured by Noisey/VICE News

On May 12, 2016 Noisey/VICE premiered Rasplyn's music video for her track 'Scarlets of the Sand' along with an interview conducted by Dianca London Potts.

Directed by Kate Soczka and filmed at The Oriental Institute at the University of Chicago, 'Scarlets of the Sand' was created with special access to some of Chicago's most treasured ancient relics from Egypt, Persia and Mesopotamia.

‘Scarlets of the Sand’ was written for indie label Venus Aeon’s 5-part compilation series based on the Elements, Volume 1 being the element Earth (out 12/22/15). Rasplyn used the desert and the mysterious devouring energy of sand as her inspiration to dig deep and unearth the stories secretly held by her soul; bringing to light scars from her past that have been hidden from her memory.

11.16.14Rasplyn's Debut Album Release Nov 30th, 2014!

BIG NEWS!!!! My debut album, 'Scenes Through the Magic Eye' is finally here!!! It is available now via Mythical Records band camp page, iTunes, Amazon, and for streaming on Spotify.

Rasplyn is the solo project of Carolyn O’Neill who uses her experience with classical composition, and as a Clairvoyant Reader and Energy Healer, to create mystical and visual landscapes with her music. Her style is dark, but beautifully filled with textured layers influenced by world culture and nature’s mysterious forces. Her compositions bear moments of writhing intensity and flowing release bathed in haunting vocals. Rasplyn’s debut album, ‘Scenes Through the Magic Eye’, explores the realms of her eternal being, looking deeply at the journey her lives have taken throughout history, her spirit evolving each step of the way.

10.07.12John 3:16 Visions of the Hereafter - Visions of Heaven, Hell, and Purgatory album release - October 22, 2012

Philippe Gerber/JOHN 3:16 has played more than 500 shows in the UK and Europe with the London based band Heat From a DeadStar (2004 to 2009). HFADS was the first non-US act to sign a record deal with the Boston-based label Ace of Hearts Records (owned by Rick Harte, producer of Mission of Burma, Lyres, The Infliktors, etc). The trio released its first album ‘Seven Rays of The Sun’ in 2008. This album has been described as “abrasive, catchy, post-Wire post-punk" and “a Burma-esque adrenalin rush of banging drums, rumble bass and slashing guitars" (Big Take Over Magazine, USA).

JOHN 3:16 was started in 2007, as a studio-only project but after HFADS disbanded in 2010, JOHN 3:16 became the official live act of Philippe Gerber. The 5-track EP ‘Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God’ (2011) was critically acclaimed and presented the JOHN 3:16’s newly musical direction “synthesizing many different styles and genres such as those designed as psychedelic-electronic analog circuit no-wave, industrial, ambient, shoegaze, pop, trip-hop..." (Terapija Webzine, Croatia).

‘Visions of the Hereafter - Visions of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory’ is the first full length album of JOHN 3:16 and is to be released via Alrealon Musique on October 22, 2012. The nine tracks were recorded at the Alrealon Studio/Laboratory(76). Carolyn O’Neill (Director of the Logan Square New Music Ensemble) co-wrote the track ‘Abyss of Hell/Clouds of Fire’ and William Schaff (Okkervil River, Songs: Ohia, Godspeed You! Black Emperor...) designed the original artwork.

Formats: Limited Edition Digipack CD and Digital

All tracks written by JOHN 3:16/Philippe Gerber, except 'Abyss of Hell / Clouds of Fire' written by JOHN 3:16/Philippe Gerber and Rasplyn/Carolyn O'Neill.
